The Sat Nav for Life: Why Getting Lost Doesn't Mean You've Failed
Feeling lost in life? Just like a sat nav guides your journey, discovering your true self after life's twists is possible with a little support. Let’s find your way together!
Feeling Lost in Life? Maybe You Don’t Need More Motivation. Maybe You Need a Sat Nav.
Imagine driving somewhere you’ve never been before.
Would you just get in the car and hope for the best?
Probably not. You’d use a sat nav, check Google Maps or at the very least follow the road signs. You’d want something to guide you because reaching somewhere unfamiliar without directions would feel stressful, frustrating and probably impossible.
So why do so many women expect themselves to navigate life’s biggest challenges completely alone?
As an Identity Recovery Coach, this is one of the most common conversations I have with women. After trauma, baby loss, becoming a mum, illness, grief or simply years of putting everyone else first, they tell me they don’t recognise themselves anymore. They say things like, “I don’t know who I am,” “I’ve lost my confidence,” “I feel stuck,” or “I don’t know what direction my life is going in.”
The truth is, I completely understand why they feel that way.
Life has a way of changing us. Sometimes it happens overnight through a single event. Other times it happens so gradually that we don’t even notice until one day we look in the mirror and realise we no longer recognise the woman looking back at us.
The problem is that when life changes us, nobody hands us a map. There isn’t a guide that explains how to rebuild your confidence after trauma, how to find yourself again after baby loss, or how to reconnect with your identity after spending years looking after everyone else. Instead, we’re expected to keep going. Keep smiling. Keep coping. Keep being the strong one.
But what if you’re not broken?
What if you’ve simply been trying to navigate a road you’ve never travelled before without any directions?
That’s why I often describe my role as being like a sat nav.
I’m not here to drive your life for you. I’m not here to tell you what decisions to make or which dreams to chase. My role is to help you find your own route again. To help you reconnect with the woman who’s still there underneath everything life has thrown at you. To help you rebuild your confidence, rediscover your identity and remember what truly matters to you. Whether that’s through my one to one Finding Me Again programme or inside Women Talk Support Network, my aim is always the same. To create a safe place where you don’t have to pretend you’ve got it all together and where you can begin finding your way again with support around you.
One thing I’ve learned through both my own experiences and the women I’ve worked with is this. Most women don’t need fixing. They need reminding. Reminding of who they are, what they’re capable of and that asking for support doesn’t make them weak. It makes them human.
Imagine trying to drive across the country with no sat nav, no road signs and no idea where you’re going. Eventually you’d stop and ask for directions. Not because you’ve failed, but because you’d recognise that a little guidance would get you to your destination much faster.
Life works exactly the same way.
If you’ve been feeling lost lately, if you’ve been wondering where your confidence has gone or you’ve caught yourself thinking, “I don’t even know who I am anymore,” please know you’re not alone.
You don’t have to keep driving without directions.
Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is admit we’ve lost our way.
And sometimes, all we need is someone to help us find the road home to ourselves. 💕

I support women in business to release the blocks trauma has left behind, rebuild unshakable confidence, and finally show up powerfully in both business and life.
